Our collections

The association of Biology Centre Collections of Organisms (BCCO) belongs to the Biology Centre CAS. One of the main BCCO’s aims is to preserve the genetic diversity ex situ. In the collections a wide variety of organisms can be found. Arboviruses, soil microorganisms, helminths, or parasitic arthropods can serve as several examples. Numerous isolates have been already well characterized taxonomically, physiologically, and metabolically.

BCCO declares that all strains and specimens comply with The Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing.

Detail information about the present isolates and specimens can be found in the catalogues of the collections:

We have put protocols to protect our patients and staff care.

The collection includes about 2000 strains of microscopic algae and cyanobacteria isolated from soils and aerophytic habitats of various biotopes and climatic zones.
